Byrd has long carried the torch for the genre’s beloved sounds and subjects regardless of what’s happening on the radio, delivering hard-partying tunes (“Ten Rounds with Jose Cuervo”, “Drinkin’ Bone”), rural-living anthems (the bluesy “I’m from the Country”) and heart-swelling ballads (“Keeper of the Stars”).
