Combining techno, ambient and Frippertronics-style drones, Montreal-based Tim Hecker's music has an appeal that unites disparate groups. His own influences include everything from Claude Debussy's orchestral delicacy to Ennio Morricone's romantic soundtracks, the shoegazing guitars of Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine to the ambient minimalism of Aphex Twin.
