The Ink Spots were massively successful and influential in the ‘40s for mixing pop, humor and vaudeville razzle-dazzle into a sound that teeters on the edge of rock ‘n' roll. Their vocal acrobatics helped spark the doo-wop explosion. Their music of these Midwestern musical visionaries may sound a bit genteel to modern ears, but the joy in their recordings hasn't aged a day.
