Taking Back Sunday brought the underground sound of post-hardcore and emo bands like Fugazi and Sunny Day Real Estate into the mainstream. They made their name with intense live shows and imbued their 2002 debut album, Tell All Your Friends, with that same power. TBS's ambitious third album, Louder Now, featured a more polished sound, which led to a hit pop single. Despite multiple line-up changes, the group retained their energy and emotional intensity, and when the original line-up reunited in 2011 TBS proved they hadn't mellowed after more than a decade.
