Tadd Dameron Essentials

Tadd Dameron Essentials

Composer, arranger and pianist Tadd Dameron's voice is woven throughout the bebop and hard bop of the ‘40s and ‘50s, the musician having played his own timeless, coolly romantic compositions in electric collabs with John Coltrane (“Soultrane”), Clifford Brown (“Theme of No Repeat”), Miles Davis (“Lady Bird”) and more. His fleshed-out scores saw smart walking basslines underscoring well-balanced melodies and perfectly effortless progressions (“Good Bait”); other pieces of his involved syrupy brass and woodwind gestures (“Fontainebleau”) and luscious, Hollywood-style strings (“But Beautiful”).
