You may know Dan Snaith from his principal project, Caribou, in which he makes a particularly vibrant, glowing strain of electronics-infused experimental rock. But as Daphni, the Canadian multi-instrumentalist/producer explores his connection with dance music, often fusing lost disco and soul samples into melodic, abstract house and techno. Some of the songs on his third Daphni LP, 2022’s Cherry, “were made in the depths of the pandemic, when I was yearning for clubs to return and experiencing music collectively,” he tells Apple Music. “And there were tracks made as things started to reopen.
