The Miami-bred duo of Sam Moore and Dave Prater brought the intensity of Southern gospel to soul music, creating some of the genre's iconic singles. Forming in 1961, they were signed to Stax/Atlantic where they were paired with writer/producers Isaac Hayes and David Porter, and often backed by Booker T. & The MG's. The combination struck gold on ”Soul Man”, “Hold On, I'm Comin'", "I Thank You" and other hits; their live shows earned them the nickname of “Double Dynamite”. Personal animosities would split the duo by 1970, and they reunited for the last time on New Year's 1981.
