Robert Hood Essentials

Robert Hood Essentials

Few DJs more movingly preach the gospel of techno than Robert Hood. In fact, the Detroit native and longtime Alabama resident is also an ordained minister. Originally a member of the militant collective Underground Resistance, he pioneered minimal techno with lithe, live-wire cuts like 1994’s “SH-101”, and his spare signature continues to shine through on hypnotic, lose-yourself anthems like 2018’s “Low Life”. Occasionally, his gospel-house side project, Floorplan, bleeds into the music released under his own name: Check 2020’s “The Struggle”, a storming acid cut overlaid with an inspiring message of resilience.
