The sonic heritage of the Black Sea flows through Resul Dindar’s lush sounds that interweave delicate strings and haunting wind instruments with echoes of the traditional Turkish kemençe. Born in the coastal city of Hopa, Dundar sought adventure in Istanbul in 2005 and found success with the group Karmate before going solo and releasing his debut album, Divane, in 2013. Carried by his easy, lilting vocals, his lyrical approach comprises an arresting range of languages, from Turkish to Hemşin, Georgian and Laz, which brings a widescreen vision to his folk-influenced balladry.
