Like his occasional collaborators Lindstrøm and Todd Terje, Prins Thomas never gave up on disco. The Norwegian electronic musician keeps the flame burning for the loose-limbed grooves of the late '70s and early '80s, fleshing out four-to-the-floor rhythms with ragged hi-hats, rubbery bass and the spaced-out synths of Krautrock and Italo disco. In keeping with the spirit of early house music, he keeps his arrangements lean—no swollen strings here—and woozily psychedelic. And as a DJ, he really lets his imagination run wild, taking in everything from library music to Detroit techno.
