Mudvayne Essentials

When Mudvayne broke through with the punishing L.D. 50 in 2000, the mask-wearing group drew comparisons to another face-obscuring nu-metal band, Slipknot. It’s easy to detect why: in addition to similar stage wear, both acts favoured frenzied guitars and throat-shredding vocals. However, Mudvayne also leaned toward post-metal (as on the Helmet-esque “Not Falling”) and prog rock (“Death Blooms”), while their more straightforward and melodic heavy fare (“Scream With Me”, “Happy?”) displayed nimble musical technique and arrangements.
