Although he first entered the scene as part of Os Novos Baianos in the '70s, singer-guitarist Moraes Moreira flourished as a solo performer, releasing more than 20 albums of swooning Bahia folk, samba grooves and psychedelic rock in the decades that followed. With a guitar style that could flip from tumbling, finger-picked prog riffs to simple, beautiful strumming, Moreira's songwriting followed suit. His 1975 self-titled solo debut was a triumph of shifting time signatures, expert musicianship and infectious melodies, setting the stage for his career to thrive.
