North Carolina's Travis Stewart, better known as Machinedrum, was born in '82. Growing up in a musical family, Stewart was a multi-instrumentalist at a young age; he started experimenting with electronic music in high school. Machinedrum's debut, '01's Now You Know, innovatively mixed hip-hop and IDM. After graduating from college, Stewart moved to New York, where he balanced Machinedrum with a burgeoning career as a producer for artists like Azealia Banks. Over the course of eight albums, Machinedrum has continued to evolve, recently incorporating styles like jungle and juke.
