Luke Kelly Essentials

Over the course of his 25-year musical career, Luke Kelly became no less than the soul of Irish folk music. Playing both solo and with the fabled, shapeshifting Dubliners collective, he infused Ireland's folk traditions with his own inimitable personality: He could play the folk mystic, as on his famous version of the traditional "Raglan Road"; the rabble-rouser, on songs such as "Rocky Road to Dublin"; and was committed to using his rising stature to espouse his anti-capitalist views. He died in 1984, but his spirit will never dim.
