Lastlings' Summer Weekend

Lastlings' Summer Weekend

“We’ve been locked up for too long,” Lastlings’ Josh Dowdle told Apple Music in late 2020. The Queensland electronic pair—Josh and his sister Amy—have been living through 2020 with the rest of us. And now that summer is approaching, they’re hopeful about spending time with good friends and good music. “It’s been a really tough year for everyone. With restrictions easing in Australia, we wanted to put together a playlist that people could finally listen to in the company of their friends and have some fun. It has afternoon vibes for the park, cocktails at home or even sunset driving. Party safe, everyone.” Check out their playlist here and read on for more about their top selections. Loods, “Three Blocks" “This track just makes us feel like it’s sunset everywhere and we’re all sipping on margaritas and everything’s going to be all right. We love Loods’ music—he also did a remix of our song ‘I’ve Got You’ that you should go check too (shameless plug).” Jacques Greene, “Do It Without You” “We’ve been thrashing Jacques Greene’s album Dawn Chorus on repeat lately. I’ve been following his work for a long time, and this new album is such a great listen from start to finish. The production is so nice on this track, and it has this really euphoric feeling to it when all the elements come together in the choruses.” Bonobo & Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, “Heartbreak” “This is such a fun one from Bonobo and TEED. There’s no better time for releasing uplifting music like this, especially with everything going on in the world. So for that we thank them, and it’s been a fun one to play at ‘small’ gatherings. Hopefully we can play it at bigger gatherings soon.” DJ Koze, “Pick Up” “This song is one of those staple songs for a day or afternoon vibe. We’ve had so many fun memories to this song, hanging out with friends at different parties and festivals. I always associate this song with Joshua Tree because of the album artwork. It’s a song that brings back really good memories of us driving through the desert when we were on our way to the next city on the RÜFÜS DU SOL US tour.”
