L.A. Guns Essentials

L.A. Guns guitarist and co-founder Tracii Guns was in an early incarnation of Guns N’ Roses, and that experience goes a long way to explain the punkish glam-rock energy of the band’s 1988 single “Sex Action” and the following year’s “Rip and Tear”. However, the Los Angeles group reached hair-metal power-ballad immortality with the sensitive 1989 tear-jerker “The Ballad of Jayne” and offer a variety of sounds and moods: ’70s rock swagger on the bluesy strut “Kiss My Love Goodbye”; string-swept drama on the epic “Over the Edge” (as heard on the Point Break soundtrack); and simmering, brooding melancholy on 2020’s “Let You Down”.
