Julian Lennon Essentials

Although Julian Lennon was destined to be a musician, he balances the inevitable acknowledgment of his family’s musical legacy with a unique creative path. Born in 1963 to Beatles star John Lennon, he debuted in 1984 with the Phil Ramone-produced Valotte, which spawned the pop hit “Too Late for Goodbyes”. Over the subsequent years, he released several increasingly sophisticated records indebted to ambitious rock (1986’s “Stick Around”) and nods to his British Invasion lineage (1991’s “Saltwater”). Lennon has continued to evolve musically, with the 2022 album Jude focused on atmospheric music bearing expansive prog and art-rock flourishes. That year also saw him record a sombre cover of his father’s signature song, “Imagine”, with acoustic guitar from EXTREME’s Nuno Bettencourt.
