Juice Newton Essentials

Juice Newton started out as a country singer, flaunting her full-bodied alto on Southern-fried tracks like the swinging “It's a Heartache.” The sweetly open love song “Angel of the Morning” and the free-spirited “Queen of Hearts” had twangy roots, but Newton's charisma helped them cross over to the pop world in the early ‘80s. Newton's entrance into the Top 40 led to her experimenting with New Wave's synth-heavy sounds on the sparkling “Tell Her No,” while the wrenching ballad “Hurt” and the tender Eddie Rabbitt duet “Both to Each Other (Friends & Lovers)” were catnip for country fans.
