Joe Walsh Essentials

Joe Walsh is a triple threat: a shredder who possesses killer pipes and a knack for writing super catchy rock. Stardom first came to him as a member of James Gang, whose 1970 hit “Funk #49” is a feast of chunka-chunk riffs, house-party yowls and hard-grooving breaks. Amazingly, Walsh's pop instincts are even sharper as a solo artist: “Rocky Mountain Way”, dropped two years before he joined the Eagles, is meticulously crafted blues rock topped with squelchy synths and a spacey talk-box solo, and 1991's “Ordinary Average Guy” drops his quirky drawl into a lazy groove kissed by reggae and laced with New Wave-style keys.
