Japanese Composers

Japanese Composers

Japan has incredible musical traditions of its own, but the nation was first exposed to Western classical works in the late 19th century, at which point several composers began to combine the language of their native music with that of the West. The most influential was Kosaku Yamada, who studied in Berlin and founded the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, but a long line of brilliant composers have followed in his path.
