EDITORS’ NOTES

Initially part of the jangly ‘60s-influenced C86 indie scene in the UK, Glasgow's Primal Scream broke into the mainstream with their iconic third album, 1991's Screamadelica. By incorporating elements of dance music into their rock groove, it perfectly encapsulated the sound of the moment—and won the Mercury Music Prize. Led by the charismatic Bobby Gillespie, Primal Scream have continued to experiment with their sound, blending electro, funk, industrial, hard rock and techno into subsequent releases with great success.
