The Stone Roses maybe weren't the first band to connect indie guitars with shaggy dance beats, but they were the band that made it cool. So cool, in fact, that they directly inspired entire generations of musicians who followed, from the Britpop warriors Blur and Oasis to 21st century acolytes including Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs and Kasabian.
