Harry Styles Video Essentials

With his first two solo albums, Harry Styles evolved into an art-pop darling, pushing stylistic boundaries in his music, fashion and live performances. His video catalogue is equally inspired, beginning with 2014’s “Steal My Girl”, which finds One Direction dancing in the desert with sumo wrestlers and Danny DeVito—a sort of trippy, boy-band Burning Man—and stretching to 2019’s “Adore You”, a fantastical vision quest narrated by ROSALÍA that plays with themes of self-discovery and acceptance. Most provocative, though, is “Lights Up”, a snapshot of a sweaty jungle party in which Styles gets lost in a throng of nearly nude men and women. Released on National Coming Out Day, the video generated plenty of speculation (is he gay? Straight? Bisexual?). But as long-time Styles fans know, he’s more interested in questions than answers.
