François de Roubaix Essentials

A self-taught multi-instrumentalist and composer, François de Roubaix was passionate and forever bursting with ideas, devising new sounds from guitar, banjo and synths—and even his mother's crystal stemware. His enduring collaboration with directors like Robert Enrico gave birth to compositions that, for all their beauty and intricacy, were purposefully built around memorable, folkloric sounds—culminating in a posthumous César Award for 1975's Le Vieux Fusil. Brigitte Bardot delivers a foot-stomping melody here, too, next to instrumentals mixing wild percussion and eloquent harmonica.
