Ellie Holcomb was born in 1982 in Nashville, the daughter of producer/songwriter Brown Bannister, who is a giant of Contemporary Christian Music. So it was natural that she entered the family trade as a CCM singer-songwriter. Her musical career began in 2005 when she started working in her husband’s Americana band, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors. But she broke out on her own with her 2011 Magnolia EP, starting her trend of crossing over to both the Christian and secular charts. Following the release of her 2014 debut album, As Sure as the Sun, Holcomb received a Dove award for Best New Artist. With a style that blends spiritual lyrics with indie-pop production and a dash of American roots music, Holcomb has been a CCM mainstay ever since.
