Eddy Current Suppression Ring Essentials

Eddy Current Suppression Ring came from unlikely beginnings to become one of Australia’s most respected new punk bands in the 2000s. They began in 2003 when the members, who all worked at a vinyl pressing plant and had no band experience whatsoever, began jamming together. They drew their unusual name from an esoteric technical term and adopted stage names to fit it (Eddy and Danny Current, Brendan Suppression, etc.). Their raw, rocking sound is influenced by multiple generations of garage rockers and punks, like The Standells, The Stooges and others. Without sanding down their style a bit, they earned national attention with their second album, 2008’s Primary Colours, and hit No. 20 on the Australian charts with the equally uncompromising 2010 follow-up, Rush to Relax.
