Disco Inferno Essentials

Disco Inferno Essentials

One of the most inventive indie bands of the '90s, Disco Inferno were at first influenced by post-punk outfits like Joy Division, but a few years later they dramatically reinvented their sound. They kept the basic rock-band line-up of guitar, bass, and drums, but they plugged those traditional instruments into digital samplers, replacing riffs and melodies with the sound of breaking glass or footsteps crunching snow. They released three albums and five EPs to critical acclaim and were often linked to other bands of the era like Stereolab and Bark Psychosis.
