David Bowie: The Early Years

David Bowie: The Early Years

Before Ziggy Stardust, the Thin White Duke and all his other personas, David Bowie got his start singing bluesy rock ‘n' roll. Davie Jones & The King Bees' “Liza Jane”, his debut single, still has one foot in the sounds of the ‘50s. Early singles like “I Dig Everything” have a lush ‘60s sheen—Latin grooves, Hammond organ, jazz flute—but with “Karma Man”, a leaner style comes into focus.
