Dan Mangan Essentials

Dan Mangan Essentials

Armed with a warm baritone and an acoustic guitar, Dan Mangan started making a name for himself on his native West Coast, drawing numerous comparisons to artistes like Bon Iver. In 2010 he was picked up by respected indie label Arts & Crafts, which re-released the Polaris Prize-nominated Nice, Nice, Very Nice. Although he tends to favour stripped-down songs, Mangan went all out and included orchestral arrangements on 2011's Oh Fortune, expanding his sonic palette without sacrificing his intimate singer/songwriter style. In early 2015, he resurfaced with Club Meds under the name Dan Mangan & Blacksmith, an album that pointed more to Radiohead's sonic experimentations than to his earlier style.
