Clutch may have tweaked their attack over the years, but one thing never changes: their love for grimy, sweaty groove work. Breaking out at the height of the alt-metal boom, they initially specialised in trippy funk-metal like the get-down “Tight Like That”. By the early '00s, the outfit added thunderous guitar riffage to their arsenal, resulting in “The Mob Goes Wild” and a slew of other jams. Another core component is their love for the blues, which comes out on “D.C. Sound Attack!”, merging groove-metal snarl with riotous roadhouse swing.
