When “Brighter Days” became a crossover pop smash in 2022, it seemed as if Blessing Offor had come from out of nowhere. But the Nigeria-born, Nashville-based singer/songwriter spent more than a decade—including a 2014 appearance on The Voice—honing his gift for gospel music. Not only did Offor have to adjust to life in a new country, but he’s been legally blind since childhood. It’s his faith and hope, coupled with a passion for soul greats like Bill Withers, that comprise the spiritual and musical bedrock for his 2023 debut, My Tribe.
