Australian Chamber Orchestra Essentials

Founded in 1975, the Australian Chamber Orchestra have since covered a lot of ground, and with great conviction. Led by Richard Tognetti since 1989, the ensemble have long offered fresh takes on the classics, such as their astoundingly powerful cycle of late Mozart symphonies in 2015 and their dazzling album of Haydn Cello Concertos with Daniel Müller-Schott. Equally adept at new music, their reading of Carl Vine's 2003 concerto Pipe Dreams features soaring, mysterious flute lines and manic strings, while their take on Peter Sculthorpe's 1961 Irkanda IV is a slow-burning force.
