

The trio won the Mercury Music Prize for 2012 debut An Awesome Wave and use catchy art pop as a trap door into their intriguingly abstract world of small African birds, Southampton street gangs and Miley Cyrus. The latter was sampled on “Hunger of the Pine”, a typically hypnotic and textured deconstruction of indie, electronica, folk and dub into a wholly singular sound. It's all smoothed out with dreamy harmonies that make even the most inscrutable lyrics seem profound.
