Alice Ivy: The Producers

Alice Ivy: The Producers

Alice Ivy does it all. Born Annika Schmarsel in Germany, the Melbourne-based electronic producer is equally well known for her solo releases and her co-writing and production credits for others. Collaboration is key to her work, whether she’s overseeing punk singer Georgia Maq’s embrace of dance pop on 2021’s “Someone Stranger” or flashing back to classic disco on Sycco’s multi-award-winning single “Weakness” from the same year. In addition to assisting artists like Mallrat, Boo Seeka and Elizabeth behind the scenes, Ivy has helmed transformative remixes for PNAU, Thelma Plum, George Alice and even rock acts like The Rubens. Her solo releases have similarly tapped guests from across genres: Melbourne-based singer/rapper Ecca Vandal brings simmering cool to 2020’s “Don’t Sleep”, while Michigan soul singer Mayer Hawthorne fits right into the self-aware funk of 2023’s “Howlin’ at the New Moon”.
