Sinister, serpentine and delicate, James Yorkston's softly off-kilter indie folk tunes emanate from the darkest inner regions, while at the same time basking in a Stuart Murdoch-like love of life's little quirks. Yorkston began his music career in the 1990s as bassist for Edinburgh garage-punkers Huckleberry, but by the dawn of the 21st Century, his energy was focused on his acoustic wanderings. By the middle of the '00s, Yorkston had taken up residency at avatar of '00s-cool Domino for a series of critically lauded records.
