About WHY?
The CCM band Why? was formed in London by 1990 by singer/guitarist Ant Parker and bassist Jeff Whiley; the latter quit the following year after recording the LP Rachel's Lovely Jumper, the first in a series of seemingly countless line-up changes to follow in the years to come. By the time of the next Why? album, 1993's Nicely Hugged, the group consisted of Parker, bassist Seamus Herbert, fiddler Kitty Roberts, mandolinist Nick Parker and drummer Mark Davis; Herbert was gone by the time of the follow-up, Yo Skipidy, and as of 1994's Rachel Says Boo! new additions included bassist Steve Barnard and, replacing Roberts, fiddler Shona Clark. After 1995's Giggle, Why? -- now comprised of the Parkers, Barnard, violinist Ed Harnett and drummer Andy Davis -- issued 1997's Pinnenstripensuitenwearenfoddergeburnenclipencloppen. ~ Jason Ankeny
