About Veruca Salt
Blending the jagged, abrasive punk-pop of the Pixies and Breeders with the power pop of bands like Cheap Trick, Veruca Salt was one of the first female-fronted outfits to achieve stardom in the post-Nirvana alternative rock era. Forming in 1992 around singer/guitarists Nina Gordon and Louise Post, the band released its debut album American Thighs (named after a line in AC/DC’s "You Shook Me All Night Long") in 1994 and followed it with Eight Arms to Hold You (the original title for the Beatles' album Help!) in 1997. Gordon left the band in 1998, and Post continued Veruca Salt as her own project during the 2000s. After 2006's IV, the band went on hiatus and didn't resurface until 2013, when it was announced that the original lineup had reunited. A 2014 Record Store Day EP and 2015's full-length Ghost Notes followed. ~ Heather Phares
