About Trio Gaspard

Trio Gaspard, based in Berlin, signed with the Chandos label in the early 2020s and plans to record a complete cycle of Haydn's piano trios. The group also has a strong commitment to contemporary music. The group's members since its inception have been violinist Jonian Ilias Kadesha, cellist Vashti Hunter, and pianist Nicholas Rimmer. In addition to traditional piano trio repertory, including Beethoven's Triple Concerto, Op. 56, Trio Gaspard has championed contemporary music and unusual works more generally. The group also plays the uncommon Présence-Ballet Blanc for piano trio and speaker by Bernd Alois Zimmermann, accompanied by dancer Luka Fritsch. In 2022, the group backed soprano Katharina Konradi on the album Russian Roots. That year, Trio Gaspard was preparing to release the first album in a cycle of all 46 Haydn piano trios.
