About TRF

TRF is a highly influential Japanese Eurobeat band whose pioneering fusion of J-pop with European techno and other rave styles made them huge stars in the ’90s. ∙ Created in 1992 by future super producer Tetsuya Komuro, they had their first success with “Going 2 Dance,” from their 1993 debut album, This Is the Truth. ∙ The 1994 single “Survival dAnce - No No Cry More” was their debut No. 1 hit and the first of five in a row to sell a million copies each. ∙ “Overnight Sensation - Jidai Ha Anata Ni Yudaneteru” took top honors at the 1995 Japan Record Awards and was one of the year’s Top 30 best-sellers. ∙ Singer Yu-ki voiced the main character in the 1997 anime film Elmer’s Adventure: My Father’s Dragon and performed the opening theme song, “Dragon’s Dance.” ∙ After a six-year hiatus, the band returned with the 2006 hit album Lif-e-Motions—a collection of new material and fresh collaborations on earlier hits with such popular acts as AAA. ∙ Girl group Prizmmy covered TRF’s 1993 smash “EZ Do Dance” for the anime series Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live, and the song has appeared multiple times in the popular tween franchise.
