About The Shaggs

Depending on whom you ask, the Shaggs are either the greatest band of all time or the worst band imaginable. Poster children for the Outsider Music movement, the trio of sisters from New Hampshire were an unintentionally twisted, bargain-basement version of a '60s pop band. Every aspect of the girls' career was overseen by their father, and though their two recordings sold absolutely nothing at the time, it seems the old man may have been on to something. Decades after the Shaggs called it quits, they quietly became one of the most beloved cult bands ever. By turns endearingly naive and unsettlingly odd, horribly out of tune and inspiringly unprofessional, the Shaggs are one of pop music's greatest campfire tales. They must be heard to be fully understood.
