About The Longest Johns

Since 2013, British folk quartet The Longest Johns have specialized in harmony-rich a capella sea shanties, traditional folk songs, and originals. ∙ The group released a pair of EPs in 2013: Bones in the Ocean and Christmas at Sea. ∙ After building an audience with 2016’s Written in Salt and 2018’s Between Wind and Water, their 2020 LP, Cures What Ails Ya, became an immediate fan favorite. ∙ The Longest Johns recorded the topical singles “Flatten the Curve” and “(See You All) When Lockdown Ends” during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. ∙ When a 2020 social media video of the 19th century sea shanty “Soon May The Wellerman Come” went viral, their own 2018 recording of “Wellerman” became a Top 40 hit on the UK Singles chart.
