The Langley Schools Music Project

About The Langley Schools Music Project

A product of the ambitious and truly creative teaching methods of a public school music instructor working outside of Vancouver, Canada in the 1970s, the Langley Schools Music project is a set of recordings featuring renditions of popular songs from the era performed by a childrens choir. Instructor Hans Fenger was inspired by Phil Spector's Wall of Sound, Sun Ra's cosmic jazz and the heavenly pop hits of the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and others. The results are joyful, haunting, and deeply moving, and cut to the bittersweet, melancholy core at the heart of all great music. An outsider music classic, the original Langley Schools Music Project album was re-released in the 2000s on Bar/None Records.
