About The Besties

A tart, sweet indie pop outfit hailing from New York City, the Besties were formed in the early 2000s by Marisa Bergquist, Kelly Waldrop, and Rikky Walsh. The band's two female members hail from Florida, where Bergquist and Waldrop -- both natives of Anna Maria Island -- were childhood friends. The two girls eventually went to college in Tallahassee, where they met guitarist Walsh. After graduation, Bergquist, Waldrop, and Walsh moved to New York and formed the Besties, embracing a bubblegummy, punky sound that nodded to acts like the All Girl Summer Fun Band and Cub. The quartet's debut mini-album, Singer, was released by Skipping Stones Records in 2006. Drummer Frank E. Korn was soon added to the lineup and the band released its second album, Home Free, in February 2009 for new label Hugpatch. ~ TiVo Staff
