About The Aggrolites
California third-wave ska band the Aggrolites stood in stark contrast to their contemporaries by eschewing the punk aesthetic in favor of spot-on rocksteady revivalism of both the ‘60s Kingston and ‘70s London varieties. Originally founded as a one-off backing band for reggae legend Derrick Morgan, the Aggrolites developed an authentically retro style heavily influenced by the Upsetters and the Skatalites, eventually signing to Tim Armstrong’s (Rancid) Hellcat Records label. The group toured heavily with the likes of Reel Big Fish and also continued to back leading Jamaican and British reggae stars on U.S. tours.
