Norwegian singer and songwriter Sigrid is sometimes labeled “scandipop”, a wide-ranging term for Scandinavian pop music that can include acts from ABBA to Turbonegro.
• She wrote her first song when she was 16, after her older brother, also a musician, challenged her to write an original tune and perform it at one of his local gigs.
• It took just a month for her 2017 debut single, “Don’t Kill My Vibe”, to rack up 10 million digital streams. The song was the title cut to her first EP, released the same year.
• Sigrid’s first full-length album, 2018’s Sucker Punch, hit the charts in more than a dozen countries, climbing to No. 1 in her native Norway.
