About Selma Reis

Selma Reis is a talented singer who is dedicated to a sensitive repertory. Her family had a strong passion for serestas, which was fundamental for the shaping of her love for music. Reis studied vocal technique in Brazil and France. In 1987 she recorded her first album, Selma Reis (independent). After two other albums, she released a self-titled album, recorded in London and arranged by Grahaam Presket. The quality of the work finally drew the attention of majors, but she opted for the small label MZA, where she released Todo Sentimento. Ares de Havana (1999) is dedicated to Cuban music. Before departing for a tour through Cuba, Selma Reis also participated in the musical Abre Alas, depicting the life of Chiquinha Gonzaga. It yielded an invitation for participation in the TV Globo series Chiquinha Gonzaga. ~ Alvaro Neder
