About Scissor Sisters

Disco revivalists Scissor Sisters ignited dance floors throughout the 2000s after breaking through with their 2002 Grammy-nominated take on Pink Floyd's “Comfortably Numb”, initially released as the B-side to their debut single, “Electrobix”. • Singer Jake Shears and multi-instrumentalist Scott “Babydaddy” Hoffman started Scissor Sisters as a duo in 2000. The following year, they expanded to include singer Ana Matronic, guitarist Del Marquis, and drummer Paddy Boom, who was later replaced by Randy Real. • Their version of “Comfortably Numb” took off in England, helping Scissor Sisters land a record deal with Polydor, which released their self-titled first album in 2004. Scissor Sisters topped the albums chart in the UK, where they won three Brit Awards, including International Group and International Album. • All five singles from the album—“Laura”, a re-release of “Comfortably Numb”, “Take Your Mama”, “Mary” and “Filthy/Gorgeous”—went Top 20 in the UK. “Filthy/Gorgeous” was the group’s first song to chart in the US, where it was a No. 1 Dance Club hit. • Scissor Sisters’ 2006 track “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’” was a No. 1 hit across Europe, including the UK and Germany. The song was the first single from the group’s second album, Ta-Dah, which was a Top 20 hit in at least 10 countries, including the US (No. 19) and the UK (No. 1). • After two more hit albums, 2010’s Night Work and 2012’s Magic Hour, and another two chart-topping dance hits in the US, Scissor Sisters went on hiatus. The band has been dormant since, apart from collaborating with the singer MNDR on the 2017 LGBTQ+ charity single “SWERLK”.
