About Richard Heuberger

At the age of twenty six, Heuberger forsook his engineering vocation for the pursuit of music. He studied with Remy and in Vienna directed the first Academischer Gesangverein. Articles he wrote appeared in the "Allgemeine Zeitung" and he became an important contributor to the "Neue freie Presse." He also edited "Musikbuch aus Osterreich" between 1904 and 1906 and was popular for his operettas including "Die Abenteuer einer Neujahrsnacht" and "Manuel Venegas." The most famous operetta by Heuberger was "Der Opernball" which was produced in Vienna as well as the United States. ~ Keith Johnson
