About Quarteto Maogani

One of the best choro groups in Brazil, Maogani is a violão (acoustic guitar) quartet dedicated to the modernization of the genre. The group was launched in 1996 in the Projeto Pixinguinha, where Época de Ouro, Galo Preto, and Nó em Pingo D'Água also performed. Their first album, Maogani (Rob Digital, 1997), was nominated for the 1998 Sharp award as best instrumental record. The quartet has performed with singers like Leila Pinheiro (in the show Catavento e Girassol) and Rosana (in Carmen Miranda: O Mito). ~ Alvaro Neder
