Paul Weston

About Paul Weston

A leading arranger and conductor, Paul Weston recorded numerous albums of mood music, and was particularly successful working with female singers such as Lee Wiley, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Dinah Shore, Sarah Vaughan, Margaret Whiting, Judy Garland, and Diahann Carroll. Weston made his name during a lengthy spell as one of Tommy Dorsey’s staff arrangers; he later married Dorsey’s singer, Jo Stafford, with whom he made a series of successful novelty records in the 1950s. However, his best known days remain in the 1940s, when he was a mainstay at Capitol Records as a conductor-arranger and A&R director. During the '90s, he formed Corinthian Records to release new recordings with Stafford, and reissue their catalogue.
